And indeed, after a short period of no activity at 12m, VK stations started popping up on the FT8 screen! VK short path, at low angles, is not an ideal direction for me, as it's a path towards slightly higher ground. But 70W into the 3 ele overcame that!

Had I been down at the beach with a stick antenna on the car, I would probably have managed at least as good a copy, if not better.

having a beam does help so much i just run 5/8 wave at 10 meters work zs on 12m to day and ct and ea9 so not bad

Interesting that you heard VK on 12m. I was hearing some SM & LA stations on 10m around the same time so there was some Sporadic-E about.
Hi John. Yes, Scandinavia was active on 12m as well. There had been a reasonable geomagnetic disturbance the previous evening, so I suppose that was the cause of the propagation.
