Spiderbeam mast clamps - 7 years later.

Way back in January 2014, I bought a set of Spiderbeam mast clamps for my standard fishing pole support for the vertical delta loop.

Of course, you can obtain various sizes of stainless steel clamps anywhere online, get some synthetic rubber backing, and fix it to the clamps with standard shrink tubing.  But the cost difference probably makes buying the kit simpler.  But do take note of that need to cut narrow strips of shrink tubing, not place a long length of it as Spiderbeam say should be done, which causes creasing and a poor contact surface.

After seven years of use in what regular readers will know are heavy and frequent winds here in North Wales, my pole sections have slipped only once - at the very bottom, where I probably hadn't tightened enough for the considerable vertical pressure at that point.

I replaced some cracking rubber backing on two of the clamps earlier in the week.  They would have lasted for about another year, but it's best to keep things in good condition when weather here is so unpredictable and severe.

The stainless steel clamps themselves were in as-new condition, despite being blasted by heavily salt-laden air over the years.
